I was so hungry driving back across town yesterday. I was coming up on to a stop light and out of the corner of my eye I seen a sign with a big D on it. My tummy rumbled at that exact time and all I could think of was mmm…donuts. When I got closer to the sign it read Dentist. What a let down! But I guess if you eat too many donuts you just may need that dentist. 😉

We had an early Thanksgiving this year. Today I baked 2 pies and a ham, per the request of hubby and Oldest. Tomorrow I get to do a turkey, and all the trimmings. My mom thinks I am nuts. “It’s just the 5 of us!” she says, as I was loading a ham into the cart the other day. “I know, but you only live once,” I said.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🙂

Very Long Monday

Cold weather finally set in yesterday. It has been getting down into the 40’s at night, but warming up into the high 60’s ans 70’s once that sun comes out. But yesterday, it was cloudy and windy and then it rained and rained for a good part of the day and night. Today, it was still cold and windy and lots of dark clouds. With this “looks like snow weather”, Little L has gone total stir crazy. She has so much stored up energy, she doesn’t know what to do with it. She has resorted to climbing up on the back of the love seat, and then sliding down and bouncing. Scaring the life right out of me, everytime I see her do it. I have yelled, threatened, and even spanked her little tushy, but to no avail, she still continues to do it.

This morning, around 10ish, she decided to go into a chant about going to the park. I kept telling her no, not today, too cold out, maybe end of the week. She would not hear of it, and continue on her quest to take her to the park right that minute. Oldest was trying to do her school work and it was getting rather hard to concentrate through the screams. I finally got her to quit around noon, when I made her lunch. Then she wouldn’t go down for her nap, which isn’t unusual anymore. So around 3, my hubby needed me to run to the bank. I tried to get out of it and say I would go in the morning, but he needed me to go right then, was an emergency ya know. While I was getting dressed, L got all happy and said she was going, put on her shoes. I told her no, not today. She cried, begged, whined and pleaded to go. Finally hubby said, get her dressed he would go too. I just love family outings…

Since we were out and I hadn’t bought my turkey for Thanksgiving yet, I had him stop by the little Walmart on the way home. Just the girls and I went in. At first, L was doing just fine, the store wasn’t that crowded and she was running around looking at stuff, then she wanted to push the cart. Which wouldn’t be a problem if she would let either Oldest or I help. Every time we touched the cart, she would yell and everything would stop. I was getting tired and very impatient. I only had a couple of things I wanted to get for next week and I was not making any progress. After more threats, begging and pleading on my part, she got up into the cart and I grabbed a couple of things on my list and we hit the checkout. She kept asking me for goldfish, (cause the last time I bribed her into the cart with a bag of goldfish.) I didn’t see any close by, so I got her a bag of cheetos at the checkout stand.

In a couple of days, the weather is supposed to warm back up and I promised I would take her to the park as soon as it did. Another hour and she should be asleep and I can maybe have a couple of hours of quiet before hitting the hay myself. It has been a very long Monday!

Thanks for reading! 🙂

Oldest wants to learn how to cook and I am all for it. My mom never really taught me how to cook anything other then boil water. Oh I figured out how to make stuff like grilled cheese on my own when I was young, but she never showed me how to really cook. So with Oldest I try to show her whenever she is in the mood to learn something new. She found a quick and easy way to make grilled cheese today. They are called Grilled Cheese Roll-ups. She showed me the video and I told her go for it, seemed simple enough. She made three and gave one to Little L, she actually ate almost a whole one. (Her appetite isn’t fully back yet, so that was great that she ate it.)

First you cut the crust off a piece of bread, then you flatten the bread with a rolling pin or by hand. Add your cheese and roll it up. Put some butter in your skillet and fry those puppies up. Yum yum. The video showed that you could dip it in ketchup. Now I don’t like ketchup that well anymore, but she tried it like that and said it was good. Anywho, there you go. Something quick and easy for the kids when they get out of school for the day and are on the search for a tasty snack and don’t want to wait. 😉

I would have added a picture but Oldest ate the darn things too fast for me to grab my camera. 🙂

Something New

Trying something new for dinner tonight, so far I have set the smoke alarm off twice… They say 3rd times a charm or it it 3rd time means order pizza? Hum??? 😉

I go shopping alot. Not the fun shopping, you know the one where you come out with a great new top or you finally find that pair of shoes that don’t hurt your feet. No I do the dreaded G shopping. Yep, you guessed it, grocery. I cringe when I say the word now. I literally hate grocery shopping. I get so stressed out when it is time to go. But we go to have food, right? Hubby likes me to go to a certain store, Winco. I will only go here if he goes with me cause it is one that you have to bag your own stuff. I refuse to shop then have to bag it. It is bad enough having to put it all up when I get home. So Friday, the fam minus grandma, sets out to do some shopping. What? Why didn’t granny go with you? Oh because she wants to make it difficult on me and wants me to take her to Walmart the next day to get her stuff. I live at Walmart…just read my other posts. Anyways, we set off, it isn’t too far from the house, I was driving. We get to the parking lot, pull into a spot I see smoke coming out from under the hood. I ask hubby why was there smoke coming from the hood, he gets out to go look cause the temp gauge the whole ride was normal and the car was running just right. We pop the hood and there is antifreeze all over the top of the engine. He thinks a clamp came loose and he said he can fix it when we get home. We go do our shopping, which didn’t take too long at all. I had planned to pick up some items during my trip to walmart the next day since I can price match there.

We made it home and after about an hour hubby says that there is a whole in the radiator and we can’t drive it for a few days till we can get a new one. Ok…that’s fine, we have his work truck to fall back on. But here’s the glitch, grandma can’t get up in the stupid truck cause it is huge and way off the ground. Let’s face it, I can hardly get up in it either since my knee has been giving me fits over the past month. This morning I told my mom that I was just going to run up to Albertson’s since they have milk on sale and that was one thing I was going to price match at walmart. I then ask her what she wants me to pick up.  “I need coffee.”  “Ok. what else?” “Nothing else.” Now here we go. “Well it will be a few days till we go to walmart so tell me if you need anything else I will get it.” She goes in her room and comes out and hands me a 5 dollar bill. “Just coffee.” I take the money and she goes into mumbling something about she was opening the new bag of dog food today and we were going to need some. I think he won’t eat a whole bag in one day. Then she goes on and says something about toilet paper. We were just up there last week. I bought toilet paper but she didn’t. She does that. She doesn’t buy it when we are there, so that way she has an excuse to go again. She has always always always been like this.

I get Oldest and we go to the store. She is in a good mood because she is going to spend the night at her friends house. A last hoorah before school starts back Monday. We get in the store and pick up mom’s coffee, and a few other things, they were really having a good sale. Headed back to the milk. I was wanting 3 jugs. They had a limit on the sign saying 2 per customer. UGH! Don’t they know that since my Little L discovered milk she is hooked and we can go through a jug in like a day maybe a day and a half if no one else drinks any. I get the 2 jugs, grumping all the way through the rest of the store. When we get out to the truck, I set the bags in the back seat, and look at Oldest. “Oh shoot, we forgot the milk!” She laughs and we head back into the store laughing all the way in and she says we need to have a disguise. She pulls her hair up over here lip like a mustache which makes us laugh more. We safely bring back 2 more jugs of milk. Yes, mission complete!!

We make it home moments before her friend shows up. I was making her lunch and just stuffed it in her backpack. Atleast I won’t have to go back for a few days, or until the dog runs out of food. Whichever comes first. 🙂

Black Friday Fun

My  Black Friday was super cray cray. It all started at 9 a.m., when oldest and I ran to Albertsons to get some cinnamon rools per hubby’s request and a jug of milk per Little L’s request. Oldest and I had lots of fun being silly on the way there. We were both like “Black Friday, yeah baby!!” All the way there. We were having so much fun we forgot to take silly pics of us to document the occasion.  We ran into Albertsons ready to fight the crowd that may be gathering around those sweet sweet sugery goodies that awaited. But to our disappointment,  no one was around. We laughed as we grabbed the last pack and made way to the milk. Up to stand in the long checkout line, oh I forgot, I’m not in Walmart today. Ah ha! We put our stuff on the conveyor belt and the casheir greeted us. “Are you ladies off for some shopping this morning?” “Oh no, going back home. My husband wanted cinnamon rolls with his coffee,” I said. I told her thanks and we were on our way. I told oldest as we walked to the car, “She must have thought we were gonna pig out in the car, with the rolls and a jug of milk.” Oldest laughed and agreed. On our ride home, she played Christmas music on her phone. I hated to see see the fun end. Later on, we got to work on our Christmas crafts together. That is coming up in a future post.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Shopping or not!! 😉

So who gets up and goes to the store to get chocolate syrup just so everyone can have chocolate covered pancakes yesterday morning? Yep, you guessed it, the girl that is typing this did. But I must admit, I didn’t want to go. I got outnumbered, 3 to 1.

Chocolate syrup on pancakes? Yes, that is what I said. My husbands mom used to make them, but she made her syrup from the recipe on the Hershey cocoa powder box. I am sure hers were way more delicious but I admit, I am lazy. I go for the easy way and do Hershey’s syrup. I just put some in a bowl and heat it up, then drizzle over the pancake. It does take alot tho. And can be very rich in the mornings. I like it as more of a desert.

I got up and thought, hum wonder what to make for breakfast. (Light bulb) I haven’t made pancakes in a while, I shall do that, I thought. I tell hubby and oldest and oldest just had to ask. “Do we have any chocolate syrup?” “No, I haven’t bought any for months.” Hubby joins in and says, “You better go to the store then.” “I don’t want to.” I state. “OH come on mom, I’ll go with.” I look at the clock and it was getting kinda late. “Just go, it’s not gonna hurt”, he said. I hesitated for a bit then went on and got dressed. Cursing under my breath, why did I have to say it outloud? I should have just made the damn things and they would have been happy with good ole Aunt Jemima syrup we have.

Anyways, we loaded up and went right up to Walgreens, which is on the corner, close by. Went in, and no syrup to be found. We went up one row and down the other. Nope, oh well, just have to make due with regular syrup. Then oldest remembers that they have a candy isle. “Maybe it is down that one,” she says. Ok so we walk down that one. “Ahh, I’m sorry honey.” We turn around and I have to go down the Christmas isle, cause that is where the fun stuff is. We played around for several minutes, oohed and awed over the cute stuff. I looked at oldest and said, why don’t we look one more time. Mom guilt coming out there. So we walked back down, and I said “They have coffee and they have creamer. Looks like they would have…” “Here it is!” She yells. It was pushed back just far enough where it was out of view. “Well there you go. You happy now?” I asked. “Yep, let’s go.” She said with a big smile.  We headed on back to the counter and paid for her yummy find and headed home. “Mom, you gonna have one?” I will just go with regular syrup. That’s too much for me in the morning. I said. I got all the pancakes done when hubby tells me he only wants one. Really now. after he made a big deal out of me going and he only wanted one. Geesh. After getting everyone’s made, I did give in and used the remainder of syrup on my own pancake. But it was just one. One big one, but that is beside the point. I do have to admit, it was pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. 🙂
