Girl in Pink

A chilly morning in October. The skies were dark even though daylight had been hours ago. I was standing in the kitchen when something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. I turned to see a little girl dressed all in pink. She was very young, not even two, I thought. I noticed she was pointing down at something. Then she looked at me and smiled. I realized it was the dogs water bowl and it was full. I yelled, “No, please don’t!” She smiled at me again and then vanished.

True story… just happened this morning. 🙂

A couple of weeks ago, my oldest wanted me to tell her a scary story. I decided to tell her about a time that I was in grade school. Something kind of spooky happened to me and I have never spoken of it, until this day. So in the spirit of Halloween, I thought I would share it with you. Here it goes…

One day in early fall, my whole school went on a field trip. I can’t remember exactly what grade I was in at the time, but I am thinking 3rd or 4th. The name of the place escapes me, but it was Paradise something. Maybe Paradise Park. I remember that their was a very long swinging bridge that we had to cross over, just to get to the place. This in itself scared me, because I was and still am, afraid of heights. But we all made it across, safe and sound.

The park was pretty good size, with a playground, and some picnic tables. There were buildings that we were not allowed to go inside though. They looked like houses, but I don’t think anyone lived in them. Ok…so someone started saying that in one of the houses, they kept seeing the curtain move and they seen someone looking down. The story spread throughout the playground and finally got to my friends and I. We kept looking up at the window, but really I didn’t see anything that looked scary. But just the thought into a young girls head, made you think you saw something. I remember us all eating lunch, then heading back to school, still talking about that window.

When I got home, I immediately started telling my mom about the day. All about the playground and what went on. I then decided to tell her about the story that was spread about the mystery window. I was almost finished, when the phone rang in the living room. I, being the nosy one in the house, ran off to get the phone.  When I answered the it, there was no one there. I said Hello a few times, and still no one, not even static. I was about to say Hello one more time, and something came over me. I literally got scared right at that very moment. I thought oh no, the story was true and they didn’t want me to talk about it. I remember hanging up and walking slowly back to my mom’s bedroom. She asked me who was on the phone. I said no one, no one answered. I got really quiet and my mom asked me what was wrong. I told her I was tired and just dropped it. I didn’t even tell her the whole story. I just wanted to forget about it and go on.

I then told my daughter that this was the first time that I had ever told the story. It was true. Sometimes I would think about it, but I never told anyone. As I type this I have chill bumps going on. As I was finishing with my story, my dear, sweet hubby walked in and said, “You promised you would never tell!” With a crazy look on his face.  I think my eyes bulged out of my head. He had been listening and thought he would give me a good scare and it definitely worked. Even my daughter yelled at him.

So there you have it…hope you enjoyed my story. I have included some creepy window pics for your enjoyment. MUHAHAHAHAHA

The girl came home from school to an empty house everyday. Her mom worked and would be home around 5. Her daily routine was to come in, and immediately call her mom at work to let her know she was safe at home. Everyday she called, the same lady answered the phone. “Hi Brenda”, the girl said. “Can I speak to my mom, please?” The lady on the other end, who recognized the girls voice, said “Sure thing hun, hold on.” Every day it was the same thing. The girl would talk to her mom and tell her that she was ok. Tell her about homework or if she had an easy day. Then the girl would say good bye, hang up and ransack the kitchen for goodies to eat.

One Monday afternoon, she got home from school and did her usual thing.  All the teachers gave some kind of homework today for some reason. But not letting it get to her, she proceeded to call her mom. When Brenda answered the phone, “Thank you for calling YCH, how can I direct your call?” The girl thought, knowing Brenda’s voice, that she sounded kind of sad today. The girl responded by saying “Hi Brenda, how are you?” The voice on the other end said “I’m good, how about you?”  “Ok, lots of homework tho, can I speak to mom.”  “Ok hun.” She always called her hun. The girl laughed at this thought and said thank you. When her mom came on the other end, the girl started telling her about her day. She was in good spirits, besides the mound of homework that awaited her. In her ramblings to her mom she said, “I think it’s funny how Brenda always calls me hun.” Her mom became quiet for a moment, then said, “Brenda died over the weekend, she had a heart attack.” The girl froze, not knowing what to say. Silence. Her mom spoke, “Are you ok?” No words could form from the girls mouth. Thoughts ran through her head. Lots of thoughts. What…How could…who was that that had answered the phone? How did they know who to transfer the call to? She started to cry and hung up the phone. Several minutes later, the phone rang. She answered, trying to control the tears. It was her mom. “Honey, are you alright?” “It’s ok to cry. I will be home soon.” The girl nodded and squeaked out a tiny ok and hung the phone up once more.

Creepy Bassinet

One of my blogs I wrote  this past Sunday, was about Hand-Me-Downs. Yesterday, on the Daily Post they wanted people to write about Hand-Me-Downs and they would post it on their site. I was sooooo happy. One, I had already wrote it and Two,  it really means alot to me. I wasn’t sure how to do a pingback, but I guess I figured it out, since I just found it on their site.

Well, I was reading some of the other posts and I got to thinking about another hand-me-down that was given to me,  but I didn’t want to keep it. It actually scared the crap out of me! We had these friends that had 3 girls and she had given me lots of little onesies and stuff. One day they asked if I wanted a bassinet. I said sure, would love it! My hubby was going into town and he was going to stop by and pick it up. When he brought it back, I was like, what the hell is that? He said he knew I wouldn’t want it, but he took it anyways, just to be nice. I can still remember it, like it was yesterday. It was white, but kinda dirty and it was definitely old. It was made out of wicker, I believe. I told my hubby, no wonder they didn’t want it anymore, its CREEPY! No way was I gonna put our kid in that thing. It looked like something you would see in a scary movie, like Freddy Kruger came to mind. Yes, it was that bad!

My hubby said if I didn’t want it that he would just take it out and get rid of it. They didn’t want it back. He didn’t have to say it twice, I told him to get rid of it. Burn it, it was just too spooky looking.  He took it out back and threw it on a pile of other stuff he was going to burn. Now this is another scary part, as soon as he lit the pile, it bursted into flames and black smoke billowed from it. OMG I couldn’t believe it. What if I had kept it and put my baby in it, what if somehow…I can’t even bring myself to type it much less say it. I think you get the point though.

After that, I didn’t take anything else from them. I was too scared what it might look like. 🙂
