Oldest starting talking to this girl that lives in Germany recently. They have pretty much the same interests and likes, especially in music. The girl was telling her who and what bands she had got to see in concert. One being 5 Seconds of Summer. Which is Oldests favorite band. Sorry One Direction. She was telling me about the girl seeing them live and I asked if the band was coming here. She had to go look and yes, they are coming, in September. Tickets went on sale back last October.

So for the next few days, going to see them live was all she could talk about. We finally looked at ticket prices and the cheapest seats other then the lawn, (it’s an amphitheater), was 79.95 a piece. I told her I would have to go with her. She said she didn’t mind at all. Then we had to get her dad on board. Now being the kind of father he is, he always tries to give them more then we can afford or that they need. After looking, he decided she needed closer seats, which were right under 200 a ticket. I told him that was crazy and nuts and as long as she got to go, I am sure she would be happy with the cheaper tickets. Then a day passed where no one said anything about the tickets till later that night when Oldest broke and asked if she was still going to get to go.

The next morning, daddy gave her the money, in which she gave to me to deposit in the bank. When we got home, we ordered her 5SOS tickets.

Talk about one happy little girl.

Now excuse me, I got some songs to learn. 😉

Oldest gives up way too easy and I don’t know how to get her to stay with something. She has always done this, so it is not new, but it gets very old and frustrating. The other day she picked up 2 small Christmas cross stitch crafts from Michael’s. She asked if we could get started on one this evening. I love cross stitch. It has been ages since I did them, but they were always lots of fun for me. We opened the kit and I read the instructions to refresh my memory and I started it off for her, trying to show her step by step what to do. I gave it to her and she immediately knotted up the thread. I had to fix it. Then the thread came out and she got mad. I told her to just start over. Count 6 from the right and 2 up. She did, but said she couldn’t get it going. I took it back and proceeded to get her started again. The thread was so light and the lighting in the kitchen was not helping. I told her that we can look at it better tomorrow in the daylight. I stressed over and over that it takes a few to get used to, but once you do, you will be hooked. I know I was at one time. She sat beside me looking at her phone, acting like she wasn’t interested in it at all. I am not going to do it for you, I told her. Because that is what she always says, she asks for help then I take over and do it for her. I want her to enjoy it and have fun. I know it sure passed the time for me on boring afternoons.

I have been busy working on some fall and Halloween crafts and came across a cute paper tutorial last night on how to make leaves. Since all we have are palm trees in the yard, I thought it would be nice to make a few for decoration. We started working on it and she couldn’t get the hang of it. It took me like 3 tries to finally figure out what the lady was talking about, since she only put in pictures no words. When I caught on, I tried to show her. She would do it backwards everytime. Then get mad. I told her don’t get mad, just keep trying. That is the way you learn. Her thing is if she doesn’t get it the first time, she just walks away from it. My thing is, I have to know how to do it. If I start it, I want to finish it. I sure hope one day she will feel the same way. 🙂

I have been lost in Pinterest for the past 2 days. Lost I tell ya, LOST! I can’t seem to turn it off. It all started by typing in a few simple words Halloween Crafts. That was it. The rest is history. So I have been pretty much glued to my seat in what is probably the hottest spot in this whole house, going through page after page. We always try to do some type of craft for Halloween and Christmas and I have found several neat and non expensive things to do for Halloween so far.

Halloween and Christmas are so much fun. I don’t know who enjoys making the crafts more. I am the one that gets us started and Oldest can’t stand to be left out. If she sees me painting or looking at ideas, she has to start looking too. This morning, she went on Pinterest and was showing me things and was trying to pin them, but I had already beat her to it. What can I say, I am obsessed! And that website does not make it easy.  There are tons and tons of great ideas just waiting to be done. I just wish I had more mula to spend, because we definitely have the time.

What makes it even worse, is when I was was done for a little while yesterday, I went into Facebook. I liked the picture and for a brief second was looking for the PIN IT button. When I realized where I was, I felt a bit silly and had to laugh.

We have already started on a couple of things for Halloween. We made a trip up to Michael’s Crafts store last night and bought some stuff. I set Oldest up with painting today. Will post pictures when we get done. Don’t want to give it away. 😉

I took Oldest to get her blood work done on the 26th of June. I was expecting a call from the endocrinologist around the following Monday or Tuesday. Nothing. With all the family stuff at the end of the week,  I didn’t get to call them until this past Monday. At first I had to leave a message for them to call me back. About 2 hours later the receptionist called and said the doctor didn’t want to give me the results over the phone and wanted me to bring Oldest in. “Ok when”?  I asked, thinking the next day. “Well, she said to “squeeze” you in on the 21st.” “The 21st, that is 2 weeks away. And you can’t tell me whether the tests were good or bad?” I asked. She said no the doctor didn’t give her the information.  So I accepted the appointment and hung up. Another hour went by and the nurse called. She had the results and told me that her levels were still elevated, and her Vitamin D level was still low. I actually couldn’t believe it. She has been cutting out the extra sugar and has been drinking more milk. Even started taking vitamins again. The nurse, who was very nice, said to eat healthy and exercise. That is one thing Oldest does not do is exercise. Also, they sent a prescription of more vitamin d pills to my pharmacy which is silly cause my insurance doesn’t cover the cost. Plus, last ones she took hurt her stomach every day she took them. I told the nurse this and she seemed surprised that they bothered her. I asked if I could just buy some over the counter and she said yes, but get atleast 2000 iu. Then she said after she is on them for atleast 6 weeks she will have to get her blood work done again but the doctor will tell me about that when we come in for the appointment.  So today I receive in the mail the lab request sheet for them to check her viatamin d. She hasn’t been on the pills a week yet and already sending me this. They are really confusing and I wish that we could change doctors. All they talked about in the first appointment was for her to lose weight.

On a brighter note, she went in for her Scoliosis check up and it was good. No signs of change and her curvature is at 20%. The doctor said come back in in October and if it hasn’t changed he will move her appointments to every 6 months. 🙂

Oldest has a follow up appointment with the Endocrinologist next Tuesday. Well she did. They called me this past Tuesday saying that I had not went in to have her do the 2 hour glucose test. I had put it off so long that I was going to just cancel the appointment anyways. They asked me if I could take her in this week. I told them the earliest would be Friday and would that be enough time for them to get the results. It was. So we made plans to get up early today and get out of here since she had to fast from midnight on. She is fine with no food, but she couldn’t even have a drink of water. Little L is usually my alarm clock. Always around 7 to 7:30, except for the days I absolutely need her to wake me up. I woke up at 8:06. Not even thinking about having to get up I did anyways since my bladder was calling. I was in the bathroom when I remembered we had to go. I got Oldest up and she went in to get ready. Then L decides she is going to throw an ever loving fit over a popsicle. I was trying to make her a waffle and she was screaming like a banshee because I would not hand her what she wanted. I finally got her to calm down, I turned on Paw Patrol and set down and started to watch. She forgot about the frozen goodie and started eating the waffle.

We didn’t actually leave until 9:15. I had a quick errand to run before we could go to the lab. But it wasn’t so quick and it was going on 10 when we found the lab. Luckily it was only a few miles away and I got a great parking space right in the shade, which is a necessity here. We go inside and the receptionist is very nice and she takes our paper work. There were only a few people in the waiting area, so we should be seen pretty quickly.  One of the lab techs was talking with the receptionist and she seen my insurance and said that they didn’t accept the one I had. WTH? The receptionist apologized and the other lady pulled out a map and showed me where the next lab was that accepted it. Just right down the street. Cool. We get back in the car and head down the road. I thought the lady said it was on the left, so I turned. Oldest said no it was on the right. I got up in the parking lot for one of the hospitals and there was no where to go to pull over to look at the map again. I finally got turned around, and head out of the lot. I had to turn right because there was so much traffic, I could not go straight across. I decide to drive back down and get gas since my light came on while doing all this. When we finally get to the right place after another turn that was incorrect, you had to take a token to have the gate open. Oh great, how much is this gonna cost me? We find a place to park all the way at the end of the lot and walk the mile back up to the office. When we open the door, it is packed. Great, just great. The receptionist was not as nice as the other lady and I tell her why we are here and she says that they close for lunch and they couldn’t see her. But we could drive another so many miles and go to one that is opened at lunch time. Nope not gonna do it. Oldest was already saying her tummy was hurting and having no water in 100 degree weather just isn’t right. So we left the office and in the main area was the station to get your paid parking token. I didn’t know what to do, so I pushed the Help button. I told the man who answered that I was only there for a few minutes and did I still have to pay he said not if you are under 20 minutes. I said thanks, and we ran out of the building, made the trek to the car as fast as our feet could carry us. I was heading to the exit when this other car decided that he was just gonna set and block the traffic that was trying to leave. “MOVE DUDE!” We got up to the gate and I popped in the token and the arm raised and off I went. Oldest had packed a sandwich to eat on the way home. She had it on her lap and asked if she could have it now. “Yes baby, eat.” We got home and I called the doctors office that sent us to the wrong place. After telling them what happened, I cancelled the appointment and they have to send me new lab paperwork and after I get it done, I just have to call them to reschedule.

Now I have a huge headache and Little L won’t take a nap. For a Friday, this day sure has not gone the way I would have liked. Here’s to hoping the weekend is much better. 🙂

Sea Monkeys

Oldest talked me into letting her get sea monkeys again about 2 months ago. I say again, because she got some when she was around 7 and I was the one that fed them. Well, until the food ran out and eventually they all went to sea monkey heaven. So I let her get another package and told her that SHE has to take care of them. Everything started out good. She followed the directions and soon there were a couple of babies swimming around. They got bigger and more babies were hatching. Then one of the adult ones died. Don’t know why, but he turned black and was at the bottom of the tank. But that didn’t affect the rest. She had around 10 at one time happily swimming around day in and day out. I believe it was a Sunday, I reminded Oldest that they needed fed soon. She got the food out and measured and poured and sat them back in there spot on the windowsill in the kitchen.

The next day, I noticed that there were no swimmers. I seen some  floating near the bottom. Uh Oh! WTH happened? Are they asleep? Crap I think they are dead. Oldest was really bummed. She walked around saying she killed them. We watched for a day or two. Then we seen 1 swimming around. “We have life!” I yelled. It seemed to be doing ok, then a few more days, there was another one. Yes! Oldest was happy again.

Now we have 5 swimming around. 2 adults one teen and 2 babies. This morning Oldest is looking at them and says, “Those 2 are hooked together. Looks like they are giving each other piggy back rides.” I almost choked when she said that. I had to laugh. She looked at me like what did I say? I looked into the tank and yes there were 2 hooked together. I agreed with her about the piggy back ride. Now I don’t know how sea monkey’s have relations, but I guess they’ll be more little ones soon. 🙂

Talking with Oldest earlier. She is going to have a sleepover on Friday night, but we are not for sure if it will be here or there.  She tells me about how they all talk with their mouths full at dinner time, and she is the only one that covers her mouth to talk while eating. Then she goes, I  also keep my shoulders off the table too. We both realized what she said and bursted out laughing. Of course I had to face palm and shake my head.  😉

Annie Who?

The kids an and I were playing around tonight. Oldest is always trying to perfect her “creepiest” smile. After a couple of tries, I decided to play too. We both turn to each other, making our eyes go wild and our smile crazy, like in the movie,  Insidious.   We get closer to each other by leaning in, our faces almost touching. Then Oldest whispers in a scary voice, “Annie says Hi.”  Then I said, “Who the hell is Annie?” Laughter ensued and of course we had to go tell daddy about how funny we are. 🙂

My Oldest is obsessed with makeup. OBSESSED I say! She says she wants to go to beauty school when she gets old enough. I don’t see anything wrong with it. I tell her maybe she could become a makeup artist to the stars. She liked that idea.

But the one thing that drives me absolutely nuts with her is that she is constantly talking about eyebrows. Her eyebrows, my eyebrows, her dad’s eyebrows. She has watched too many makeup tutorials on Youtube with all these girls saying you have to have weirdly thick looking eyebrows. Atleast they look weird to me. She is all the time making hers look super thick.

Me: What’s up with your eyebrows?

Oldest: Nothing.

Me: They look weird, they are all dark.

Oldest: They are always like that.

Me: No they are not. Go wash it off.

*She slowly slinks to the bathroom.*

She loves to do the makeup challenges and post them on her Youtube account. I have even let her do some to me. My favorite was the blind makeup challenge. You blindfold yourself then try to make the other victim person look pretty. Then there was the one that you had to make your self look bad. She must have had on a pound of makeup, so I think she succeeded.

eyebrows 3I never liked makeup myself. I tried to wear it, but I just didn’t feel like me. I always felt like a clown when I did.

So these are for you, my girl, who thinks she needs makeup to be beautiful. (I thought they were hilarious, hope you do too.)

Tonight Oldest talked daddy and I into letting her watch a scary movie. The Woman in Black 2. We watched it just a couple of nights ago, actually, my hubby watched it, I was in and out. Had my head in my tablet a little too much. I did not think it was that scary, so I said it was ok with me. He got it running and soon the spookieness began. Oldest wanted to sit by me, but Little L was still up and had other plans for sissy. They sat on the couch together for a bit, then it was time for her to go to bed. Daddy and I  took her in to get teeth brushed and diaper changed. He shut the bedroom door so L wouldn’t run out. As soon as the door went to, I heard feet hit the floor. Oldest had ran to her room. Guess we have good timing on leaving her alone in a dark room with a spooky movie on. Daddy went out first then I heard oldest tell him that it was so scary she started shaking. Funny girl, and she kept watching. When I came out after L was asleep, she wanted me to sit beside her. There were a few more jumpy moments left. I kept telling her to stop watching. She didn’t.  The very last seen, I won’t say what happened, just in case you want to watch it, I told her not to look. The last scene always sticks in your mind. You know what she did, she watched it! Silly, silly girl. Then, when it was done, she was like, “can I sleep in your room tonight?” Daddy said no. I told her it would be ok, it was just a movie. “You don’t understand,” she said. Then asked me to walk her to the bathroom so she could brush her teeth.  I did, we laughed the whole time, about being scared and when we were getting ready to leave the room, there was a noise outside. We both looked at each other and scrambled out of the room together.

She went on to bed, I told her she could leave the t.v. on and she wanted me to leave the light on too. I did, but when daddy went in, he turned it off. It’s still off too. Hopefully she will fall asleep and think nothing of it through the night. I really don’t want to wake up in the middle of the night and trip over her on my way to the bathroom.

Be brave my little one, be brave. 🙂
