This was written last year around this time, and for the life of me I do not know why I didn’t post it. Read on…

My Oldest has always believed in Santa. She also believes that a fairy comes into her room and leaves money for her teeth, and that their is a big furry rabbit that scampers about at Easter, hiding eggs all about the house. You may think that she is too old for this. I might say I agree…atleast about the fairy and rabbit. But without believing in them, it may be hard for her to believe that there really is a Santa Claus. While we were painting on our crafts, she got to talking about Santa. “Mommy, some say that there really is no Santa Claus. Is that true?” I kept painting and said, “Well, they must not believe in him. If you believe, then he is real.” She was quiet for a moment then said, “OK, pinky swear that he is real.” We wrapped our pinkies together and I said, “As long as you believe honey, then there is a Santa.” She was quite happy with that and went back to her painting.

My hubby and my mom have both said that she knows that he isn’t real. I told them they are wrong. 1. Why would she bother to write a letter. 2. See above conversation.

She will catch on sooner or later. Maybe there is a tiny part of her that knows, deep down, that there isn’t a big guy in a red suit coming into your house and leaving those wonderful, expensive presents behind. But for right now, I am happy that she still wants to believe in him, ya know. And hopefully when that day comes, she won’t ruin it for her little sister, who is just finding out about this magical, wonderful time of year. ๐Ÿ™‚

Things have changed this year. Oldest did figure it out. I am rather relieved that she did. It was getting harder and harder to keep up the charade now that she is getting older. Now she can help me play Santa for her sister and so far, she is really enjoying it.

Since we had to run out and fill our water cooler jugs after dinner tonight, hubby decided he wanted to treat the girls to some 31 Flavors.ย  I told him since we were going out, it would be a great time to drive around to look at the Christmas decorations. We loaded up right after we ate and went up to the neighborhood that we do our Trick or Treating in. We figured they go all out for Halloween, so hopefully they would for Christmas.

We were not disappointed. Yes, there were lots of houses without even a wreath on the the door, but it was all good. There was one house that was hooked into a radio stations music and the lights danced with the beat. We sat in front of it for a few minutes then another car pulled up and blocked us. We left and circled around and came back and parked and decided to get out. Little L was excited to get out, so excited that she dropped that damn pacifier that was in her mouth. After checking out the light show, hubby put her back in the car and Oldest and I searched for the run away paci. It had actually rolled underneath the car and we didn’t find it until hubby went to turn it around. We drove for sometime through the neighborhood, pointing and talking about all the pretty decorations. L became a little chatter box and went on and on about some of them. Her favorites were Snowmen and Santa Clause. Eventually we made our way back out and went to fill up the water jugs. Then it was time to get some ice cream. Nothing like a sugar rush an hour before bedtime, right?ย  She was definitely ready to hit the hay when we got home. Her last words before drifting off was “Me take a nap now.” And she was fast asleep. ๐Ÿ™‚

Last night I started to write a post telling about decorating the Christmas tree earlier that afternoon. Well, my big fat fingers hit a key and deleted the whole thing. After a few select words that I yelled out,ย  I gave up and went to watch some old episodes of The Walking Dead with hubby.

So tonight I am going to try to type out the blog. I am sure I don’t remember word for word, but maybe it will come back to me…

Earlier this afternoon, I got out the ornaments for the girls to put on the tree. Oldest was showing Little L how to hang them up and after each one she would yell out “Me did it, me did it!” Then promptly asked for another ornament. I have tons so it was easy to fill the tree quickly. Some I wasn’t going to put on, but since she kept asking, I kept handing them to her. After a little while, Oldest got bored with the whole thing, and disappeared off to her room. L and I kept up the decorating and put some more things throughout the house. She is definitely into this Christmas thing. I love that she is having so much fun.

Hurry up mom, I got work to do!

Finding just the right place.

As we were lying down for her to go to sleep, I asked if she was excited about Christmas coming. She said yes. “What about Santa?” I said, “you excited for him?” She nodded. “Wonder what good ole Santa will bring you?” She says with sheer delight, “TOYS!” “Oh he is, is he?” “Going to bring you a new toy, well that is what he is supposed to do. And is he going to bring Sissy one too?” I asked. “Yes,” she said as she closed her eyes and started to drift off to sleepy slumber land.

I love this time of year!

Thanks for reading. ๐Ÿ™‚

Was it a smart idea for me to take my 2 year old with me to do some more Christmas shopping yesterday? No it wasn’t, but both girls wanted to go with my mom and I up to Walmart. I had to pick up a present for Oldest that I had ordered Friday night and it was already in the store. I just needed to drag my hiney up there and get it. I let on that it was for Little L, and told Oldest to keep her busy while I stood in line to get it. That worked pretty well, until Oldest wanted to see what I got her, then I had to tell her to keep out.

My mom wanted to look for Little L something else, of course, so in the toy section we were for a very long time. L was playing with everything she could get her hands on. She was good, so can’t complain. But a couple of things that we put in the cart, we had to take back out then put them in when she wasn’t looking.ย  I know she was eyeballing a Rubble from Paw Patrol that was on the belt when we were checking out. She was very tired by that time and didn’t ask for him, but I know she seen him.ย  Mom also wanted L to pick out a toy for Apollo the dog. She did. She picked out several toys. We put them all back besides one that L was not letting go of. I almost forgot to pay for it, she was holding on to it so tightly.

I have seemed to have miscalculated the gifts and have bought Little L half of what I have gotten Oldest. My mom said that that wasn’t right. I told her that L won’t remember her 2nd Christmas, but Oldest will. Plus, I think things that Oldest wanted was way cheaper then what they have out for the younger kids these days.

Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

Last year, hubby brought in all the Christmas decorations around Thanksgiving. I thought that it was kinda early so this year, I told him to wait until the 10th to bring them in. But I couldn’t do it, I went out today and got the crates out of the garage, with his help of course, and brought the tree in. I put out some decorations throughout the afternoon and then after we had dinner, he helped me set up the tree. It is one of those pre-lit trees, and we have had it for several years now. Last year it had a few branches at the bottom not working, so we turned them around to the wall. This year, I have a whole row in the top that isn’t working. It has to be a blown bulb, hubby says. I turned off the living room light and it looks really nice other then that one area. Tomorrow we are getting out the crate that has my lights in it, so I will just string a set around the top and call it good. Later in the week I will let the girls put the ornaments on then I will go back later when they aren’t looking and fix them. It’s funny how particular you get over the years about where a certain ornament should be. I have my favorites and I want them out front, of course.

I have 2 sets of ornaments that I bought for Oldest when she was a baby. Rudolph and Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I always hung them at the bottomย  so she could play with them, but to my surprise, she was a good baby when it came to the tree. Last year, Little L loved the sets so much, they were lying on the coffee table by the tree more then on it. After Christmas, I took out all the hooks out and let her play with them. I went on a search last week and found almost all of them. Baby Rudolph is missing, and I have 2 that are broke. Hubby is going to superglue the 2 back together and hopefully I will come across baby Rudolph before Christmas eve. ๐Ÿ™‚

I took Oldest to her back doctor today for her checkup. It was supposed to have been back in October, but by the time I called to make the appointment, the earliest was today. The doctor is only at this clinic on Wednesdays, so we had to wait.

After waiting for over an hour we had good news. He actually saw a slight bit of improvement on the x-rays. He was very happy and needless to say, I was too. He said that her spine will never fully straighten, but something is better then nothing. Her next checkup is in 6 months. What a relief!

After that, we headed up to Target to look around and pick up the Cyber Monday orders that I placed. Oldest picked out a couple of things to get her sister, but couldn’t find anything for anyone else. I told her that was ok, we had time. After that, we splurged on a pretzel and a drink at the cafe and came home. All in all it was a pretty good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love Cyber Monday. It is like way intense sometimes. You sit at your computer wondering through page after page of toys and gifts and when you finally see the item you want all it is is a click on the button Add to cart.

That button and I have become friends today.

I never go out on Black Friday to shop. I am not a lunatic or someone that wants pepper sprayed in the face over a gaming system. I usually do most of my shopping online. Last year, I had started before Thanksgiving. I ordered a bunch from Walmart and picked it up the next day in the store. I think I even wrote a post about it too. This year I was feeling behind. I kept telling myself, “Self, you have time, don’t worry about it.” But then I started to feel a bit overwhelmed. I mean, people already have their tree and decorations up and they are finished shopping, “Did it all in one night” kept echoing in my head.ย  “What am I thinking,” I thought.ย  “I need to shop and I need to shop now!”ย  So I started browsing on the internet. I knew a couple of things that I wanted to get so that was easy. Just had to find who had it the cheapest. And funny thing is, Walmart is not the cheapest this year. I put a few things in the cart, but after it set for a day or two, things started going off. Out of stock. I really hate those words. My mom wanted to go shopping yesterday, so I took her out to Walmart and she picked up several things and I actually found 1 of the things I put in the cart for Oldest in the store. Score! Then last night I decided to check out Targets website. They had the one big thing that I want for Little L and at half price. Walmart didn’t have it in the store at all. Another score!

I waited patiently through the night, luckily The Walking Dead distracted me enough, for Cyber Monday to get here. Target had most everything an extra 15% off. Play all day Elmo was mine at a cool 31 dollars. Then I had to go run some errands with hubby and he stopped and got him and the kids a new pair of shoes. When we got home, back to Cyber Monday I went.

There were so many people on the the website that when I found something I liked, there was a popup that read, there is a line for this item, stay on the page and try putting it in your cart again. Game was on. I was trying to get something for Oldest, I must have pushed that button 10 times, before it finally went. Victory was mine. I got so excited I finished the transaction without even seeing if there was anything else I wanted to get. Ok, calm down Lesa, breathe. I went back in and started looking some more. Ah ha, Daniel Tiger, L loves her some Daniel Tiger. Then the dreaded there is a line for this item blah blah blah popped up. Oh no, I am getting this! I stayed right on that button and within 5 minutes it went. The next item went in right away. Alright, one more thing and I am done, I thought. This one was the test. It took 15 minutes and clicking that add to cart button I don’t know how many times, but I did it!

100 dollars later and a minimal amount of aggravation and a good bit of my shopping is done. Only one item has to be delivered and the rest I can pick up at the store. Yeah me! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oldest came to me about an hour ago saying that her phone wasn’t working. Let me rephrase that, to tell me that her phone had a crack in the screen and she couldn’t get it to work. This makes the 3rd phone that she has busted in the past 5 years. She is always carrying this phone around. She has it in her hands constantly, even when she is doing her chores around the house. We are always telling her that she needs to lay it down, and stop taking it outside when she and Little L goes out to play.

I was wanting to get her a new phone for Christmas. I even hinted to her about it, but she said that she liked her phone and didn’t want another. Even after it malfunctioned about 3 months ago, and overheated. She couldn’t get it to shut off. We eventually got it apart, but the battery in this phone is behind a separate case that takes a screwdriver and Macgyver to figure out how to get to it. Luckily, it began to cool down. After that, I wouldn’t let Oldest keep it on at night. I didn’t want it to over heat while we were asleep and start a fire. Then the battery started losing its charge fairly quickly. She deleted all her apps and turned off anything that she didn’t use or need but it didn’t work. Now it seems like if your parent was mentioning a new phone and Christmas right around the corner, you would be jumping for joy and saying yes, but not her.

Are we going to get her a new phone for Christmas? No. Her dad won’t let me. He is pretty upset with her and now he is upset with me because I am letting her use my old phone. She can’t receive texts or calls but she can run on Wifi all day long around here. I did tell her that she can’t take it outside with her, it has to stay in the house. She is fine with that. It runs a little slow, that is why I got rid of it just this time last year, but it will work for now and let her dad chill out about it and I know he will. ๐Ÿ™‚

I finally got my scrapbook pages done and put away for awhile. Hubby was totally surprised when I cleared off the dining table. No one has been able to use it since Halloween. (I thought I better get it cleaned off for good ole Turkey day or my scrapbook stuff might be thrown out the door.) I did a total of 25 pages, which included this and last years Halloween, 11 and 12th Birthday for Oldest and 1st and 2nd Birthday for Little L. I was slacking big time on all of it. I kept putting it off because I didn’t want L to be in the middle of it. To my surprise, she was actually pretty darn good about the whole thing.

A couple of weeks ago, I got bored with looking at the same old thing over and over, so I walked away from it for awhile and did some Christmas snowflakes to hang up.

I got a little addicted to them since they are super easy to make. I have like 7 made. There are several tutorials I found on Pinterest, and one that I used can be found here. The one above is like my favorite. I have a huge Christmas paper pack that I will never use all the papers out of. When I seen the tutorial I went scrambling for my Christmas scrapbook crate, yes, it has its own crate, and found the papers.

Well thanks for checking out another one of my addictions. If you end up making one I would love to see it! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love taking pictures. Some may say that I am addicted. OK, OK, I am addicted. I usually have two cameras going, my good digital and my phone. I am always trying to get the perfect smile, perfect angle, just the right look and working with kids you have to take more then one, cause someone is always looking the other way. I took over 600 pictures before, during and after Christmas. Did I mention I was addicted? I can’t help it though, especially since I scrapbook. My favorite subjects are my girls. When Oldest was younger, she learned early. When mom had the camera, you best smile. And she did.ย  I even took some pics by the Christmas tree when she was about 3, that when I took them into get developed, one of the photo employees tried to say that they were professionally done, and I needed a release form to print them. I told her I was flattered, but nope, I just took them at my house. It took me awhile to make her believe me too.

I ran into a great deal online from Walgreens photo. 100 prints for 9.99! I couldn’t believe it and yes, I had to jump on that. I have my own printer and paper, but it takes forever for me to print out a few, so I figured this would be the way to go. Plus my ink cartridge only does about 25 prints before I have to replace. I got the photos back yesterday and they look pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Last night at dinner, we were having a great time.ย  Little L woke from her nap in a very playful mood and she was ready to eat come feeding time. She loves it when I make hamburgers and fries, even though she doesn’t eat much of the burger itself.ย  She was being such a darn cutie that I had to push my plate away and grab my camera. Oldest joined in on the fun even. I usually have to have everything perfect, but this time they both had food on their faces. When I look back on these pics, I will know that we were laughing, playing and just being silly. Great times and great memories! ๐Ÿ™‚
