Dog Gone

Well not really…

We often tell our dog that one of these days we are going to let him out the front door and not go after him. We do this because he is always sticking his nose out the front door when someone is going in or out. he often stands and blocks the whole door and trying to move a 125 pound german shepherd is not an easy task. He has gotten out before. One time he was on the street behind us totally lost by the time we caught up to him. Another time, he was out in the front yard by the garage and when my hubby opened the front door, he barreled in. It was over 100 degrees that day.

So today, hubby came in and Apollo was hovering around the door. Last night we had some visitors. Coyotes were in the yard. There were foot prints everywhere and they had dragged up some garbage into the yard and ate what they wanted and left the rest for us to clean up. Apollo then wanted to go out back. Kind of strange since “daddy” was inside, but ok. I went to the back door and let him out and turned to put the load of laundry in the dryer. I heard hubby go out and I then heard him saying “Apollo.” Crap, he went through the back door to the garage again and out the front. He was gone, took off down the road. Hubby jumped in the truck and caught up to him in the next subdivision over almost to the mountain side. He was tracking the coyotes. Hubby said if he had gone any farther he would have lost him.

He was happy to be home and came right in the front door and plopped down by the air vent. He panted for about an hour afterwards and went outside a couple of times before he got calmed down. Silly ass dog. Good thing we don’t mean what we say sometimes. 🙂
