I finally made it down to the good ole DMV to get my new license mid week.  Hubby thought I was crazy for not going last week. I think I would have been crazy if I had of. No way was I going on a week of a holiday. Oldest and I got there right before 11 (she got up early and did all her school lessons for the day just to keep me company!)  Although it’s a small office, the line was going up to the door. Stood in that line to get my number, showed the lady all my paper work, birth certificate, first marriage, divorce papers, second marriage certificate, all certified. She had me do the the eye test right there. I passed. She asked me in a questionable tone if I wore corrective lenses. “I had lasik several years ago.” “Oh ok”, she says. I guess cause I  had read the line so fast, she thought she would ask. She gave me a number and sent me to the photo counter, to get the dreaded picture taken. Then had to sit for about 15 minutes. Got called to a window and the lady asked to see my papers. It took her 5 minutes to comprehend my name changes. Like no one ever gets divorced and remarried.  She even got up twice to go ask questions, and the first time she thought she lost my birth certificate. Aye aye aye! I sat there maybe 20 minutes, watching everyone that had come in after me leave way ahead of me. She didn’t need the divorce papers after all that hard work I did to find them. You can read about that here. When she asked for payment, I knew I was about done. Then I had to stand in another line, showed her all my paperwork (how many times do I have to show this damn stuff?) and she then gave me a lovely, fresh off the printer, temporary license. Now it’s just waiting on the mail. I had a quick stop to make and then I was on my way home to park my rear for a few days. 🙂

I haven’t  written in a few days, I was really hoping that this week would be on the calm side. But this week, brought on a new adventure, or quest you might say. A quest for bath soap. Yes I know what you are saying. What is this crazy lady gonna write about now. But I  am serious folks. Let me give you a little back story.

I, like every other adult, do not like to run out of certain household necessities, i.e., toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, and bath soap. I always had a fear of running out of t.p. This stems from growing up with a mom that would only buy a 4 pack to last all week with 4 people in the house. Sorry it just doesn’t work. She was always having to stop to get another 4 pack or she would “borrow” a roll from work. Just to make it to the end of the week. I always always always buy when down to one or two rolls or sooner if I can. I do the same with bath soap. Well with the holidays going on and all the other running I was doing, I totally spaced getting a new package. I kept thinking we had one bar left. Well Sunday night, I was definitely proven wrong. I was the last to get in the shower and there it was, a very small, almost transparent bar lying on the shelf. I thought, oh, no problem. I hopped out, opened the cabinet, no bar. I opened top drawer, middle drawer, bottom drawer,  nada. Panic sets in. I opened up the door  again, must have missed it. Ugh! My eyes hadn’t deceived me. There was no last bar to be found. I got back in and knew I had to make the most out of this miniscule remnants of this once huge lovely bar of soap. Then I remembered that my neighbor gave me a wonderful gift set of caress body wash for Christmas. I was saved, and I not only smelled good, my skin was silky smooth too. 😉

I tell hubby what had happened and he goes into why didn’t I “check sooner” spill. Give me a break, it just wasn’t on my mind. Monday, I had to run to the bank so walmart is right there, I go in to get a pack. The shelf is bare. All other soap there, but that one. The price tag was still there, so it wasn’t taken off the shelf. Now you may say, why don’t you just grab another kind? Sorry, can’t do that…you see, hubby will only use one brand and one brand only. He doesn’t like anything to perfumy, so using my caress was out of the pic.   I went ahead and grabbed a few things and decided to run down to the nearest market to get it. They were out too. I text my hubby to ask him to give me another soap to get but he never answered.  Nervously, I decide on one and get out of there.

I got home and he wasn’t too happy with the choice, but oh well. I did go on my Walmart app and find it at a store not too far from me but I rarely shop there. I told him I would go Tuesday, I had to take oldest to the library anyways. To make this long story short, we made our way down there and I bought two, yes two, packs of his favorite soap. I vowed that I would never run out of soap again. Cause this quest is one that I did not enjoy!!! 🙂

I go shopping alot. Not the fun shopping, you know the one where you come out with a great new top or you finally find that pair of shoes that don’t hurt your feet. No I do the dreaded G shopping. Yep, you guessed it, grocery. I cringe when I say the word now. I literally hate grocery shopping. I get so stressed out when it is time to go. But we go to have food, right? Hubby likes me to go to a certain store, Winco. I will only go here if he goes with me cause it is one that you have to bag your own stuff. I refuse to shop then have to bag it. It is bad enough having to put it all up when I get home. So Friday, the fam minus grandma, sets out to do some shopping. What? Why didn’t granny go with you? Oh because she wants to make it difficult on me and wants me to take her to Walmart the next day to get her stuff. I live at Walmart…just read my other posts. Anyways, we set off, it isn’t too far from the house, I was driving. We get to the parking lot, pull into a spot I see smoke coming out from under the hood. I ask hubby why was there smoke coming from the hood, he gets out to go look cause the temp gauge the whole ride was normal and the car was running just right. We pop the hood and there is antifreeze all over the top of the engine. He thinks a clamp came loose and he said he can fix it when we get home. We go do our shopping, which didn’t take too long at all. I had planned to pick up some items during my trip to walmart the next day since I can price match there.

We made it home and after about an hour hubby says that there is a whole in the radiator and we can’t drive it for a few days till we can get a new one. Ok…that’s fine, we have his work truck to fall back on. But here’s the glitch, grandma can’t get up in the stupid truck cause it is huge and way off the ground. Let’s face it, I can hardly get up in it either since my knee has been giving me fits over the past month. This morning I told my mom that I was just going to run up to Albertson’s since they have milk on sale and that was one thing I was going to price match at walmart. I then ask her what she wants me to pick up.  “I need coffee.”  “Ok. what else?” “Nothing else.” Now here we go. “Well it will be a few days till we go to walmart so tell me if you need anything else I will get it.” She goes in her room and comes out and hands me a 5 dollar bill. “Just coffee.” I take the money and she goes into mumbling something about she was opening the new bag of dog food today and we were going to need some. I think he won’t eat a whole bag in one day. Then she goes on and says something about toilet paper. We were just up there last week. I bought toilet paper but she didn’t. She does that. She doesn’t buy it when we are there, so that way she has an excuse to go again. She has always always always been like this.

I get Oldest and we go to the store. She is in a good mood because she is going to spend the night at her friends house. A last hoorah before school starts back Monday. We get in the store and pick up mom’s coffee, and a few other things, they were really having a good sale. Headed back to the milk. I was wanting 3 jugs. They had a limit on the sign saying 2 per customer. UGH! Don’t they know that since my Little L discovered milk she is hooked and we can go through a jug in like a day maybe a day and a half if no one else drinks any. I get the 2 jugs, grumping all the way through the rest of the store. When we get out to the truck, I set the bags in the back seat, and look at Oldest. “Oh shoot, we forgot the milk!” She laughs and we head back into the store laughing all the way in and she says we need to have a disguise. She pulls her hair up over here lip like a mustache which makes us laugh more. We safely bring back 2 more jugs of milk. Yes, mission complete!!

We make it home moments before her friend shows up. I was making her lunch and just stuffed it in her backpack. Atleast I won’t have to go back for a few days, or until the dog runs out of food. Whichever comes first. 🙂

While standing in Walgreens the other day, Oldest decides she is going to pick on her dear, sweet mother. We were waiting on her grandma, she was looking at some vitamins, and Oldest out of the blue tells me I have wrinkles. “Really?” I say.  She proceeds to say, “Yep they are all around your eyes.” “Especially when you smile.” “So you don’t want me to smile?” “No, I’m just telling you.” she says. Now mind you at home, she is always telling me how pretty I am, how great my skin is. So this lighting in Walgreens must make me look hideous. So I tell her thanks for pointing it out and that she could stop at anytime. She then tells me that I have them around my mouth too. OMG girl can you shut up. Before she could say anything else, I said, “Well, you have pimples!” It came out really loud too and the look on her face after I finished that last word, it was like UH OH! How could you? was coming from her eyes.  She did stop after I said that. Meantime, another lady was standing on the other side of my mom listening to the whole conversation. I think my mom could have crawled under a rock and she actually said outloud that she didn’t know us. Thanks mom!

I love taking pictures. Some may say that I am addicted. OK, OK, I am addicted. I usually have two cameras going, my good digital and my phone. I am always trying to get the perfect smile, perfect angle, just the right look and working with kids you have to take more then one, cause someone is always looking the other way. I took over 600 pictures before, during and after Christmas. Did I mention I was addicted? I can’t help it though, especially since I scrapbook. My favorite subjects are my girls. When Oldest was younger, she learned early. When mom had the camera, you best smile. And she did.  I even took some pics by the Christmas tree when she was about 3, that when I took them into get developed, one of the photo employees tried to say that they were professionally done, and I needed a release form to print them. I told her I was flattered, but nope, I just took them at my house. It took me awhile to make her believe me too.

I ran into a great deal online from Walgreens photo. 100 prints for 9.99! I couldn’t believe it and yes, I had to jump on that. I have my own printer and paper, but it takes forever for me to print out a few, so I figured this would be the way to go. Plus my ink cartridge only does about 25 prints before I have to replace. I got the photos back yesterday and they look pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Last night at dinner, we were having a great time.  Little L woke from her nap in a very playful mood and she was ready to eat come feeding time. She loves it when I make hamburgers and fries, even though she doesn’t eat much of the burger itself.  She was being such a darn cutie that I had to push my plate away and grab my camera. Oldest joined in on the fun even. I usually have to have everything perfect, but this time they both had food on their faces. When I look back on these pics, I will know that we were laughing, playing and just being silly. Great times and great memories! 🙂

2014 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,700 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 28 trips to carry that many people.

Well it’s New Year’s Eve and I am sitting here with my girl watching Rockin’ New Years Eve. Oldest is in love with One Direction so this is where we are, not channel surfing, not looking for a movie, but trying to catch all of One Direction’s performances.

Little L took a very early nap today and only slept for 45 minutes. She was ready to hit the hay around 8:30. Hubby offered to buy us a bottle of wine to bring in the new year but I haven’t drank anything for atleast 10 years. No lie. I am a light weight! The last time I drank was on New Years Eve and he ended up having to make me a hot pocket before I went to bed, to soak up some of the alcohol! 😉 Oh the memories!

I logged onto Facebook a little while ago and one of my best friends from high school wished me a happy birthday. Which would have been wonderful but she is 1 month to early. She realized that soon afterwards…she has 3 boys and I think she has finally went crazy!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful night and bringing in the new year safe and sound. Commercial is over got to get back! 🙂
