Saturday night we got to go to our very first Boo Fest here in town. I wanted to go last year, but Little L was only 4 months old and we didn’t want to have her out after dark if we didn’t have to. So we just stayed at home. This year, I decided that we were going. I had been planning it for a couple of weeks. If my hubby didn’t want to take out Little L, then the oldest and I would just go by ourselves. Oldest decided that she wanted to be a zombie teenager and I gave in. I wanted cutesy matching outfits for the girls, but I got cheap at the last minute. All I had to buy her was some zombie makeup and my mom bought her some zombie tights. She wore the pink shorts that she no longer likes because she didn’t mind getting makeup on them for the zombie effect. We bought Little L a pair of halloween pajamas. Glow in the dark skeleton. I said I got cheap!

It was a busy day all around. I had to go up to Walmart to order a birthday cake and so that trip always takes atleast 2 hours or more when my mom and oldest goes. I would be in and out within minutes if I could just get out of this house one time by myself. It never happens, so I just roll with it, trying not to stress. Boo Fest started at 6 p.m. so I was going to make dinner early then leave around 5:30 to get a place to park. My mom decided that she would just pay for us something to eat there so I wouldn’t have to cook. Ok…I love not having to cook. I made sure Little L had something in her tummy tho before we left. Then we had to stop at an ATM for some cash for the food, oh and we were suddenly low on gas, so we had to stop and do that. I didn’t think we would ever get there and it was less then a mile up the road.

We finally got there and it was already packed.  It was fun to see all the little kids dressed up. People were carrying pumpkins to their cars like it was gold. We made the trek across the parking lot and got into the area. There were a tons of bouncy houses and carnival like games, and I few food stands. They also had a live band which was pretty cool. Oldest decided she wanted to go up into one of the bouncy houses and we tried to get Little L up in there, but no, she wasn’t having it. She was in one of her moods, I think that it was just too late in the evening for her to enjoy herself. Everytime the band started up another song, she cried. We did get her to go into the pumpkin patch. It was littered with all kinds of small pumpkins. She picked up two and I got a few pics of her. Couldn’t get her to smile at all. After we got her out, I told oldest to go pick her out some pumpkins, she came back with 3 pretty cool ones.

After that it just went down hill. Why did I ever think that this would work out? Oldest got super clingy like she had never seen people before. I tripped over her a couple of times because she was so close. Little L kept crying and making her little pouty face. She didn’t want to walk and we had her stroller but she wanted daddy to carry her. I wanted to go on the haunted train ride, but I couldn’t figure out where the entrance was so we just stood there, in the middle of the field. I looked at my hubby and said I’m ready when you are. We left shortly after, we tried to get oldest to go play but she just wouldn’t. She is not an outgoing kid like we would like her to be. She said it was too crowded and she just felt out of place because there were so many little kids there.

We got home and only had been gone little over an hour. I felt bad that the night was a bummer but we did score some pretty cute pumpkins and I got a few good shots of our little pumpkins too.

I’m pretty sure I’ve given my husband the “I’m ready when you are” quite a few times when things just weren’t working out the way we had hoped!
